Montegrappa, the first Italian pen manufacturer founded in 1912, still stands in the same historic building in Bassano del Grappa in the prosperous north-eastern part of Italy. Montegrappa’s geographical links to timekeeping date back to the work of Bartolomeo Ferracina, the 18th Century clockmaker whose work in Bassano included the clock in the city hall.
